HeatPot Games released its tile-matching JRPG Hero Emblems on iOS yesterday.I've been playing it a little, enjoying the challenging turn-based battle system, and the comical interactions between the four main characters.It has you controlling the Princess's guard after she has been kidnapped, and the King is found in a deathly state.You have to go on a quest across the game's adventure map, battling monsters in dungeons, wilderness, caves, and the ocean. There are bosses to take on as well, eventually leading up to the source of all the recent mishaps, the God of Evil.The core of the game is its turn-based, tile-matching battle system. You have four heroes, each of which have a specific role: the fighter deals damage, the knight defends with his shield, the healer replenishes HP, and the witch casts magic spells.Each hero is represented by an emblem on the grid of tiles. You have to match three of the same emblems to make the hero they're connected to perform an action.

You build a base - or, in this instance, a planet - and fill it with resource generators and defences.You then fly off into the universe to battle other planets, stealing some of their precious resources to help grow your own.The best part is, it's all played out on a persistent universe. You can scroll to see all other planets functioning in real time.But you don't have to go to war with all of them. You can form an alliance with other planets, and head off into battle with up to 50 of them to get some intense raiding action.Once you're in an alliance, you can stop off at any of the stations to grab a handy boost, and fly to the aid of any fellow planet under attack.There are also Guild Wars 2-style dynamic events which are played cooperatively with any other player who chooses to get involved.With six unique troop types to take into battle, collectible relics, and a persistent universe full of dynamic events, strategic combat, and unlockables to find - all displayed in Pixar-style cartoon visuals - Last Planets has plenty to keep you busy when it launches on iOS in February.

Earlier this year you might've caught the news that Jim Squires and Shane McCafferty joined forces to create the new label, Rocketship Park. Well, their first game Block Droppin' is headed to iOS and it's looking for beta testers. Block Droppin' is a mix between a sliding block and falling block puzzler. Starting out in the upper box, you'll have to create the right shapes that'll fall into the box below. You'll have to make the right shapes in the right places, meaning you'll have to keep an eye on the blocks' placement as well as the creation.I know that sounds a little bit confusing, but it seems like a solid strategy game that'll be equally puzzling as it is intriguing.Block Droppin' will be releasing exclusively on iOS later this summer, but if you'd like to help the team out and check out the beta you can sign up right here.
